B&B teams with PDQ for fundraising sandwich

BBButchers_clubHouston Chronicle – Greg Morago – Fast food and fine dining are usually at cross purposes. But not so with a new partnership that brings together one of Houston’s hottest white tablecloth restaurants and a fast-casual chain.

The upscale steakhouse, B&B Butchers & Restaurant on Washington, has teamed with PDQ to offer a sandwich, known as “Chef Tommy’s B&B Butcher’s Club”that will be served exclusively at four Houston area PDQ stores (Bunker Hill, Cypress, Cinco Ranch and Vintage Park) from September through November. PDQ will donate $1 from every club sandwich sold to the Houston Food Bank.

The sandwich – crispy chicken breast topped with blue cheese, crispy bacon and honey drizzle on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato and black truffle mayo — was created for PDQ by B&B owner Benjamin Berg and executive chef Tommy Elbashary.

PDQ CEO and co-founder Nick Reader, a fan of B&B, was happy to put together the collaboration.

“Ben Berg provides Houstonians exemplary service, superior food quality and an unmatched atmosphere,” he said. “PDQ strives to provide the same level of service, quality and experience daily in our restaurants. It was with this admiration in mind that we wanted to partner with B&B Butchers & Restaurant and the Houston Food Bank on this important initiative.”

PDQ, which stands for People Dedicated to Quality, is a fast-casual restaurant specializing in hand-battered chicken tenders, made-to-order sandwiches, daily cut fries, fresh salads, and hand-spun milkshakes.
